ITL 606: Parent/Student Welcome Letter
Dear Parents and Students, In this class, I take a Humanist approach to learning. Your student is not an empty vessel for me to fill with information. You have a human, who I see as a whole person, needing often more than just literary information. It is within this approach that I want students to engage in student-centered learning, participate in the governance of the class, and feel like they can participate in all aspects of the course learning framework. It is with this approach in the classroom that I can tailor my efforts to students based on needs, in particular if they have an IEP or 504 Plan that requires differentiation. In my classroom, students come from all fabrics and require respect in order to learn. It is with this approach that I will foster a learning environment that is accepting and cordial for all students and educators.
